BLOGGER SLEEPOVER AT MOXY GLASGOW
Just a week after its swish opening party, the cool, new hotel kid on the block, Moxy Glasgow invited myself and some other Glasgow bloggers for a night of Prosecco, pizza, and pillow fights. Being in my mid-thirties now, as you can imagine, I don't get invited to too many pyjama parties these days so who was I to turn down such a fun invitation?
LOCATION: MOXY GLASGOW
Situated in the Merchant City in Glasgow, it's the perfect spot for a girls overnight and we all headed there straight after work last Wednesday. It's right next to High Street train station and just a short walk from Queen Street or Argyle Street stations too.
MOXY GLASGOW: FACILITIES
I had been shopping with a client in the City Centre all day so I was there a little bit earlier than everyone else. I set up a temporary office in the large reception/lounge area to catch up on some work. There's fast, free wi-fi and lots of different desk areas for meetings with plenty of room to spread out and also more relaxed, casual and cosy areas perfect if you just want to read a book or catch up on some phone calls or emails. There's also a pool table if you get bored of working and a lots of reasonably priced food options if you get a little peckish.
MOXY GLASGOW: THE ROOMS
Once the rest of the gang arrived, we checked in and headed to our rooms for a nosey around.
The rooms are generously-sized with everything you'd need for a night or two like a comfy bed, blackout curtains (which made if verrrry difficult for me to prize myself out of bed the next morning), a kettle, really good hairdryer, a powerful shower and PLUG POINTS BESIDE THE BED! Halle-bloomin'lujah!
MOXY GLASGOW: PYJAMA PARTY
Once we'd got changed into our pyjamas we headed downstairs to the bar/lounge area (yes, felt very weird being in a bar on a Wednesday night at 6pm in my pjs) and enjoyed a little cocktail before being split into two teams, ready to battle it out in a tense scavenger hunt/cocktail contest.
Our team sucked at the scavenger part of the challenge but we more than made up for it with our WINNING cocktail 'Snoozin' Boyle'!
Having worked behind a bar on many occasions before and being EXTREMELY competitive, there was no way I was losing this competition.
I added ice and pink gin and a good ol' squeeze of lime to our cocktail shaker, shook it up and strained into a Martini glass before topping up with Prosecco. I added a little twist of lemon and then flaméd a little lemon over the top. It was actually quite delicious and I'll definitely be making a few more of those over the festive period.
We then tucked into some pizza and nachos to soak up some of the strong cocktails and swooned over Magic Mike on the big screen in the lounge.
MOXY GLASGOW: HITTIN' THE SACK
I had a great nights sleep and I couldn't believe how quiet the room was, considering it's on such a busy road. There is subtle under-bed lighting that comes on automatically when you stand up which is great if you get up in the middle of the night.
The next morning we tucked into breakfast and lots of coffee before the girls headed off to work and I caught up on some work in the lounge area before heading to a meeting.
I'll definitely be using this area for meetings and for working away on my laptop between meetings as it's so much comfier and more relaxing than Starbucks!
The rooms are really reasonably priced at around £60 for a room for the night so I'll definitely keep it in mind for any Christmas nights out as waiting for taxis when it's freezing cold really kills my festive vibe...
Thanks so much to Moxy Glasgow and Skapa PR for inviting me along, I'll definitely be back soon!
