WELCOME TO GLASGOW, VICTORIA'S SECRET
It's the store launch that every girl in Glasgow has been waiting for for YEARS! Finally, Victoria's Secret Glasgow store is now open!
Located on Buchanan Street in the City Centre in the former H&M site, I was lucky enough to be invited to the store launch on Tuesday evening before it officially opened its doors on Wednesday morning at 9am.
I've long been a huge fan of the brand from visiting stores in the US, Dubai and London. My sister, Louise, brought me back a sports bra from Las Vegas (quite a random present, I know) maybe five years ago and I've not worn a different brand of sports bra since. At a 34DD bra size, I've always really struggled to find sports bras that fit well and actually give support without looking like old granny bras but the Victoria's Secret sports range is so flattering on and support me, even whilst running or taking part in high impact workouts AND look good too. I already had about eight or nine so I had everything crossed that there would be a sport section in the new Glasgow store.
When I arrived at the store opening party with Rachel, we couldn't believe how big and pink and shiny and pretty it looked and we couldn't WAIT to get inside and start shopping, it's what we do best, afterall.
We were very kindly given a £50 gift card to put towards a purchase and the girls explained the promotions to us. For a couple of days only, EVERY SINGLE BRA in store was only £20! From buying underwear in stores abroad, I knew that the sports bras were normally about £50 each so this really was a deal not to be missed.
We then met Yasmin and headed for the fitting rooms where the trained bra fitting experts made sure we were all wearing the right sizes.
The sizing in Victoria's Secret is slightly different as they don't have size E or F but they instead have DDD. I'd definitely recommend getting a free bra fitting as our bodies change all the time and it's always worth checking that you're wearing the right size as clothes can look completely different when your bra doesn't fit properly.
The girls in the fitting room then brought a selection of bras in our size for us to try and I couldn't believe how many nice, pretty styles there were for DD. Anyone of a similar size will be well aware that bras are usually pretty and delicate up to a size C or D and then they have huge, ugly, reinforced straps for any size above that so I was so pleasantly surprised by how many bras I fell in love with instantly.
The store itself is enormous and there is so much to chose from. There is a big beauty section as well as a big Pink section of casual wear. There is also a brilliant choice of sports wear (hallelujah!) which will make sports bra shopping a million times easier. My brother, Scott, that lives in Dubai (in close proximity to a Victoria's Secret store) will also be delighted and relieved that I no longer need to send him shopping for my sports bras before every trip back to Scotland with my shopping list, something I don't think he was ever particularly comfortable with...
I think we were all a little overwhelmed with the choice and we all went a little wild knowing that £20 for a bra was an absolute bargain!
When I finally (two hours after arriving at the store) got to the desk to pay for my much debated purchases, the girls behind the desk happened to mention that there was a crystal encrusted bra which normally costs £110 which was also reduced to £20. So I mean I OBVIOUSLY had to go back for it too. Who could possibly resit the opportunity to purchase such an extravagantly unnecessary bra at such a reasonable cost??
I headed for home, delighted with my purchases... until I started watching everyone else's stories from the launch and realised how many amazing bras I had passed on.
Knowing that these bargain prices were probably never to be repeated, I headed back on the launch day to queue with everyone else and pick up a few more bargains.
I waited about 30 minutes in the queue to actually get into the store on opening day and strategically managed to pick up everything I had missed the previous night, including the 'Victoria' strap bras, and headed for the queue to pay within about 10 minutes. And then I waited. And waited some more for probably over 50 minutes to finally get to the front of the queue to pay but at absolutely no point did I think about calling it quits. It was quite literally a small price to pay.
MY VICTORIA'S SECRET HAUL
I thought I would share exactly what I bought so that you can get an idea of what's available in store right nows. This little(ish) lot is my final haul from the opening day of the Victoria's Secret store launch in Glasgow. If you see me headed towards the store again in the near future, please intervene! I do NOT need any more!
You also get one of the amazing tote bags free (worth £29) when you spend £20 right now. They are the perfect size for fitting a laptop, make up, notebook, a bottle of water and a pile of other things into and bags that size of a decent quality are hard to come by - trust me, I've been looking!
In the end, I went for two sports bras - one in the red leopard and a navy one. They are normally either £39 or £49 each but the quality is amazing and they do last for years. I love that the zip is at the front as some sports bras normally require a level of flexibility to actually get them on and off and I always count them as a bit of a pre-workout so the front fastening is an absolute treat!
As I mentioned, I just couldn't let the chance to own a £109 embellished bra pass so it came home with me too. It's not the kind of bra I would normally go for at all and I'm not really into anything 'bling' but, having since tried it on at home, I absolutely love it! It's so comfortable and I cannot wait to wear it.
I also really love the two lace bras I picked up which are part of the Pink range, after swithering between colours for quite some time, I finally decided upon the teal and navy lace bras with subtle gold detailing.
On my return the next morning, I decided to pick up the 'Victoria' strap bras (after seeing them on Yasmin's Insta stories). After all, it's not every day you can get a bra with your own name on the straps. I went for the pink and coral versions and they are unbelievably soft and comfortable and I love the Dior vibes with the slogan straps.
I really like the slightly sporty feel to them and can't wait to show them off under a little racer back tank top.
VICTORIA'S SECRET BEAUTY
Other than the amazing underwear, Victoria's Secret is well known for it's beauty products, in particular the scents and mists. We received the 'Rebel' fragrance in our goodie bag at the launch, which is a brilliant, everyday fragrance. I also love the fact it's not in a glass bottle and is perfect for throwing in your bag.
I also picked up the 'Tease' fragrance mist which was down to £5 from £22. Again, I love perfumes that can be worn everyday and that aren't too expensive and this was another amazing bargain.
OVERALL, IS IT WORTH THE HYPE?
In a word, ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY! I honestly didn't expect for there to be any kind of opening 'sales' as everyone has been so excited for the launch anyway and would have probably spent an absolutely fortune even without the amazing deals. The quality, fit and sizing is excellent and ESPECIALLY the prices if you can get down in the next day or so. I know queuing is a total pain but I promise, it'll be worth it and you'll be so annoyed if you miss out.
They wouldn't say exactly how long the £20 bra and £5 pants deal would last but I don't think it'll still be on by Saturday (29th of September) so that's why I thought I'd throw this blog post up so can hopefully grab some bargains too.
Like I mentioned earlier, I had to queue for quite a while but it's definitely worth it and I doubt very much the deal will be repeated.
Thanks so much to This is Mission for inviting me along to the launch and for the very generous gift card and to Victoria's Secret for such an amazing opening, we're so happy to finally welcome you to Glasgow!
